Everything I Do I Did When I Was Years Ago

LC-A colour neg, walmart film, optical print

Colour Printing

Some prints I made in Colour Printing at Langara College, spring 2010.
It looks as though this box of paper had expired before I used it as the borders are... off-white. I don't mind it though, or I've accepted it's flaws, maybe it's even a little bit anti-aesthetic. :?)

Spinach and beans for dinner FTW!

Hipstamatic Template Ideas

I couldn't find many concise, pertinent, or even not-bullshit results in the google box for hipstamatic templates or settings for photoshop so I made one using a gradient of orange-yellow-orange on a second layer with the blending mode set to pinlight. Viola! Change the opacity to taste... bad taste, and you're done. Oh wait... I wasn't finished, I changed it into a psychedelic mirrored double exposure. Woah, man. And then it's... MRBRNWSH
Anyways I'd love to hear more about how other people have done this, perhaps you're reading this and know how to search engine better than I. Please help!

Interobang!?

Interobangradient
What's with the lack of interobangs?! Oh yeah, no keyboard key for that symbol. OR IS THERE?!?!?!?
Also, Interobangradient? Pretty good, eh?

October Drawings viii: Quentin Paint

Some people have said I look like Quentin Tarantino because we both have big chins. Ok. Fair enough. Plus WTF Lemmy was in Hawkwind! How did I not know this?

Thursday

October Drawings vii: Three of One W/ Colour

I'm working on my digital painting. Comparing the faces and hair to the jackets and hands I see improvement. Quiet.
Went to an art school art show this evening. It was an interdisciplinary show (art, design, photography) and also not a grad show. I think that kept the work from becoming too pretentious and more automatic. Not too overly thought out like some years. Yups.

Also, one day i'll be the this of that. Asemic writing and whatns. Not a lot of thought going into this, just this.

October Drawings ii: Lisa & Amber Hug Colour

Payed rent today. Next month rent will be less than one paycheque as I'm moving into a house with people. YAY!

Saturday

Potato Head

1. Go to grocery store produce section.
2. Find a potato that looks like a head (they all do).
3. Photograph it on white seamless.
4. Draw the face in the potato over top.
5. Colour it in.

Tuesday

Hawai'i Souvenir Sunset Lighting

Went to Kelowna this weekend to photograph Ashley's Mom's wedding. Brought a couple shoot through umbrellas w/ stands, an sb-600, sb-900, a pack of gels, a D90 and F5, 18-55 f5.6 dx lens, 14-24 f2.8 and I rented the legendary 85mm f1.4. Had a blast shooting. This was the first wedding I've done and it went great! Left town at 6:00 Sunday evening but managed to squeeze in a couple hours in the afternoon for this sunset simulation. Saw the cheesy souvenir at Value Village and I knew instantly that I had to make this shot.

Friday

Zombie Ryan Colour

Tried some non-gradient colour for this. I think it turned out well. What I did was use a new layer beneath the lines for the colour. Perhaps some layer masking would result in a cleaner image. I guess I'm still learning to colour inside the lines!

Digital Purple

Thinking about Kenny Rockwell's recent post about digital colour capture. Basically he says purple is a tough color for digital cameras to reproduce. Went looking for some purple to shots and found this tea bag and beet juice shot.
